How To Use Tilt-N-Drain

The Tilt-N-Drain fitting is designed to hand-tighten only. Once the drain plug is removed with a 14mm socket wrench, no additional hand tools are required for proper use.

Helpful Hint: Do not run the engine prior to removing the drain oil plug. This greatly reduces the amount of oil that drains from the filter.

  • 1 Using the trim switch, tilt the engine to a full tilt-up position with steering straight.
  • 2 Next, remove the oil drain plug from the rear of the engine using a 14 mm socket wrench. (No oil should drain at this time if the engine is in the full tilt-up position.)
  • 3 Hand-tighten the fitting into the oil drain hole only until snug.

Helpful Hint: Stretch and straighten the hose to remove the packaging memory.

  • 4 Place one end of the hose onto the fitting and the other end of the hose into a suitable oil catch container.
  • 5 Trim the engine to a full down position, the oil will drain into the container. While tilting the engine down, make sure the hose is secure in the oil catch container.
  • 6 Drain the oil completely. The time will vary on crankcase capacity.
  • 7 Remove the hose from the oil catch container, holding the end in an upright position while trimming the engine back to a full tilt-up position.
  • 8 Remove the hose from the fitting before removing the fitting from the oil drain hole.
  • 9 Finish by placing the other end of the hose onto a fitting to store for next use.

Helpful Hint: To save time, treat the fuel, grease zerks, and drain carbs if applicable while the oil is draining.
